regal blue and gold…

Hello dear blog friends.  I want to share a card with you today, that is definitely ‘out of the usual’ for me.  As a dedicated pastel, vintage, shabby chic girl, I occasionally succumb to the desire to work in saturated color and go a bit mad!  With an unopened jar of Wendy Vecchi’s gold embossing paste staring at me (yes, sometimes supplies DO stare at me, no whispering though ;-))  I made this last minute card with a very regal color combination…

The deep navy panel was coated with a layer of gold embossing paste, using Prima’s 6×6″ stencil called ‘Flourish’.  It was placed on a lighter navy card base (not nearly as light as it appears in the photo, and accented with some circles that were snipped from a gold doily.  A simple sentiment was embossed with gold powder…

The metal wreath is from a set of Tim Holtz Idea-ology Christmas themed charms.  The touches of red were added with a Copic alcohol ink marker.  The bright gold accents are bits cut from the gold doily.  They take on the look of dresden embossed paper.  The two metal leaves contrast with a single ‘skeleton’ leaf…

While the navy is represented as much brighter and lighter than it is in real life, I chose this photo to show you the amazing metallic gold of this embossing paste!  It looks like beautiful metal work or ‘liquid gold’!  It’s my first foray into metallic e.p. but not my last!

There was a stunningly beautiful sunrise just a short while ago, so I paused at the computer to enjoy it.  I am loving this time of year as I always seem to.  The crisp days(summery by English standards) and cold nights, sweaters, scarves as accesories and fleece lined slippers all add to the pleasure of winter.  There are roses blooming in the garden along with some of the prettiest ruffled pansies I have ever planted.  Two of the delphiniums are blooming because of the exceptionally long, mild autumn and the hummingbirds are fighting over control of the feeder!  There was even a Gila woodpecker hanging on and licking up some sugar water yesterday!  I will do my best to get some photos of them today, to share with you.

My work in CASA has been very busy of late, and I let the selection of two people who commented on my blog last month, winning packages of crafting goodies, slip right past me!  My apologies!!!  The two people were ‘2amScrapper’ and ‘Shazza’.  If you would kindly email me with your addresses, your packages will be on the way to you!

I’m hoping you are finding some islands of quiet, peaceful time in the chaos of the season!

Sending blessings and ((hugs)),
